The Story
A panoramic long-exposure twilight photograph of the Governor Thomas Johnson Memorial Bridge with glass-smooth water, warm sunset glow transitioning to cool blue, and red bridge light reflections.
The Location
The Governor Thomas Johnson Memorial Bridge spans the Patuxent River at Solomons Island, connecting Calvert and St. Mary's counties. For locals, it's more than infrastructure — it's a daily landmark, the threshold between home and away, framed by some of the most dramatic skies on the western shore.
Artist's Perspective
"This was a January evening — bare trees, cold air, and that particular blue-hour light that only happens in winter. The long exposure smoothed the water into glass, and the red bridge lights became the only warm element in the frame. I wanted the image to feel as still as the night actually was." — Ryan Lott
Curator's Recommendation
The panoramic format makes this piece ideal for wide wall spaces, above a sofa or credenza. Available as a fine art paper print or archival-quality framed canvas in white or black. Particularly well-suited for medical and wellness spaces seeking calming, contemplative imagery.
Print Quality
Archival-Quality Canvas. Made in the USA with globally sourced materials.
Every Chesapeake Focus print is produced on archival-grade poly-cotton canvas using UL GREENGUARD GOLD certified inks — water resistant, fade resistant, and anti-yellowing. Each canvas is hand-stretched over kiln-dried stretcher bars that are knot-free and warp-free, then finished with your choice of hardwood floater frame in matte black, white, brown, or natural. Ready to hang right out of the box.
Stretcher bars sourced from FSC-certified, sustainably managed forests — a quiet nod to the landscapes our work celebrates.
