The Story
A dramatic long-exposure photograph of a bright lightning bolt striking the horizon behind a rock jetty on the Potomac River, under a dark, swirling storm sky at night.
The Location
The Potomac River forms the southern boundary of Maryland's western shore, where the watershed opens to the full force of Chesapeake weather. These shores see some of the most dramatic storm systems on the East Coast, where summer thunderstorms build over the Virginia shoreline and march across the open water.
Artist's Perspective
"I spent the evening on a beach waiting for storm to come across. When this bolt hit the Virginia shore, I had maybe a two-second window. The long exposure smoothed the surf while the lightning froze itself in the frame. You don't plan a shot like this — you prepare for it and hope." — Ryan Lott
Curator's Recommendation
The horizontal orientation (landscape cut) makes this piece well-suited for living rooms, offices, and above fireplaces. Available as a archival-quality framed canvas in white or black, as well as a High Gloss Metal, which is highly recommended for an image of this level of detail, contrast, and resolution. Particularly well-suited for high-traffic spaces where visual impact is paramount. As a limited edition of 25, this piece is positioned as a collector-grade investment.
Limited Edition: This image is produced as a strictly limited edition of 25 prints across all sizes. Each print ships with a hand-signed Certificate of Authenticity featuring a custom embossed seal and matched holographic authentication stickers.
