Piney Point Creek is a quiet tributary of the Potomac in St. Mary's County — the kind of place where historic homes line the shore and storms arrive with dramatic authority. When a shelf cloud rolls in over the creek, the lightning illuminates a landscape that hasn't changed much in a century.
