The Story
A red and white sparkplug-style lighthouse standing alone in the Chesapeake Bay under a soft, clouded sunset sky with gentle ripples in the water.
The Location
Point No Point Light stands alone in the open Chesapeake Bay, marking the dangerous shoal near where the Potomac River meets the main channel. Built in 1905, this caisson-style 'sparkplug' lighthouse has endured over a century of storms, ice, and tides — a testament to the watermen and keepers who relied on its beam.
Artist's Perspective
"Getting to Point No Point Light requires a boat — it stands alone in the open Bay, miles from shore. The weathered red and white paint tells the story of a century of Chesapeake weather. I shot this from water level to emphasize its isolation and the way it rises out of the water like it grew there." — Ryan Lott
Curator's Recommendation
The horizontal orientation (landscape cut) makes this piece well-suited for living rooms, offices, and above fireplaces. Available as a fine art paper print or archival-quality framed canvas in white or black. Particularly well-suited for high-traffic spaces where visual impact is paramount.
Print Quality
Archival-Quality Canvas. Made in the USA with globally sourced materials.
Every Chesapeake Focus print is produced on archival-grade poly-cotton canvas using UL GREENGUARD GOLD certified inks — water resistant, fade resistant, and anti-yellowing. Each canvas is hand-stretched over kiln-dried stretcher bars that are knot-free and warp-free, then finished with your choice of hardwood floater frame in matte black, white, brown, or natural. Ready to hang right out of the box.
Stretcher bars sourced from FSC-certified, sustainably managed forests — a quiet nod to the landscapes our work celebrates.
