The Story
A vertical black and white photograph of the Maryland State House dome, illuminated at night and framed tightly by the dark silhouettes of adjacent historic buildings and an alleyway.
The Location
Annapolis is the sailing capital of the Chesapeake and the seat of Maryland's government. The State House dome, the oldest in continuous legislative use in America, has watched over these cobblestone streets and narrow alleyways since 1772.
Artist's Perspective
"I found this alleyway in Annapolis after dark and realized the State House dome was perfectly framed by the buildings on either side. The monochrome was a deliberate choice — it removes the tourist quality and turns a landmark into something that feels almost noir. The brick walls become a natural vignette." — Ryan Lott
Curator's Recommendation
The vertical orientation (portrait cut) makes this piece exceptionally versatile for narrow wall spaces, flanking doorways, or as a statement piece in an entryway. Available as a fine art paper print or archival-quality framed canvas in white or black. Particularly well-suited for executive offices and conference rooms where bold statements set the tone.
Print Quality
Archival-Quality Canvas. Made in the USA with globally sourced materials.
Every Chesapeake Focus print is produced on archival-grade poly-cotton canvas using UL GREENGUARD GOLD certified inks — water resistant, fade resistant, and anti-yellowing. Each canvas is hand-stretched over kiln-dried stretcher bars that are knot-free and warp-free, then finished with your choice of hardwood floater frame in matte black, white, brown, or natural. Ready to hang right out of the box.
Stretcher bars sourced from FSC-certified, sustainably managed forests — a quiet nod to the landscapes our work celebrates.
